Disabled access

Access to the paths

Almost all cycle paths in the National Park Zuid-Kennemerland have been cobbled or paved with concrete. They are perfectly accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. These paths can be found throughout the entire National Park. Wide footpaths or cycle paths semi-paved with shells are also easily accessible.

The narrow paths and trails are not suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters or people who have difficulty walking due to loose sand and steep inclines. The bicycle "locks" along the Duinpieperpad, Visscherspad and Blinkertweg (Kraansvlak) and ’t Wed (Kennemerduinen) are wide enough for an average-sized wheelchair but not for a mobility scooter.

Sand wheelchair for hire

For 5 euros a day and proof of identity as security, a "Wombat" can be hired. With this special wheelchair (see photograph) people who have difficulty walking can also access the beach and the water of the ‘t Wed dune lake.

The Wombat is also suitable for walks on unpaved paths. For more information and reservations, please contact the visitors’ centre.

The visitors' centre

The visitors’ centre and the Duincafé can be accessed by wheelchair and mobility scooter users. You will find a disabled toilet here.

Next to the bicycle racks near the visitors’ centre, there is a charging point for electrical bicycles, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Guidance and assistence dogs

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the entire National Park as long as they are working and recognisable as such by a harness or vest.
